8th November 2007.
KODAIKANAL (ko-dai-ka-nal) is a high station about 7000feet above sea level and is sumwhere in Tamil NAdu.its suprisingly freezing cold with the temperature is as low as 10 degrees.with all of us unprepared physically and expecting it to be like Cameron Higlands,--we were dead wrong. (except for Mar,who is comfortably cocooned in her pink 'UK' sweater). our journey on thursday,8th November 2007,started at about 9pm from sri sadhana's place in Bangalore and we reached at about 7am the NEXT morning in Kodaikanal.the roads are winding and it took us 2 and a half hours just to travel from the foot of the mountain to top!*omajawsh*.i sat in the car wif a "tiger balm" in my hands and a plastic bag on my lap--just in case.don't worry people! no one barfed!
this place is just beautifuuul~ =) the houses are located on hilly areas and there is no industrial activity whatsoever.untouched? the cows here are even larger! but bout the colour blindness, I don't know..hehe.
i guess, this place is one of the historical places where the Brits use to stay.almost all of the bulidings have some english touch and the houses are cottage like.(somehow,it doesn't make you feel like India..haha!) the buldings are built from stones with the breadth of the walls is about a feet and a half! (it keeps you warm..yeah,i know.but what about in cases of fire? =O) Van Allen maternity hospital
on the first day of arrival, the six of us,me,mar, mas syikin, anas and farid, went sh0pping!(what daa?) yup..about an hour upon arrival actually.. we came to know that a majority of the people here are from Kashmir.many of them are Muslims whom had migrated here at least 30 years ago. and of course, the goods for trade here are Kashmir's famous items such as very-very preety Pashminas, carved wooden boxes, marble boxes, handmade carpets, materials for clothes, precious stones rings&stuff and furnitures.(be patient aunties!)
HOME-MADE CHOCOLATES are one of the specialty of Kodaikanal.we bought l0ts of it! nyum!
